Replacement Roofs Built for Highland Weather
A new roof makes sense when slipped coverings, worn underlay and repeated leaks mean repairs no longer hold. We strip the old covering back to the timbers, check what is underneath and build the roof up again with new underlay, battens and a finished covering, so you are left with a sound, weathertight roof over your home in Inverness, Fort William or along the Great Glen.
New roofs cover three kinds of work. Tiled roofs use clay or concrete tiles, a practical choice for many houses. Slate roofs give the traditional Highland look and a hard-wearing finish when laid well. Leadwork seals the joints and edges of a roof, such as valleys and abutments, and is usually renewed as part of a full replacement.
You deal with one person from the first visit to the final check, so the advice you get at the quote stage is the same advice the work follows. We explain which covering suits your roof and why, then give you a FREE, no-obligation quote so you can decide in your own time.

Roof Size & Shape
A larger roof, or one with hips, valleys and dormers, needs more materials and more cutting than a simple pitched roof.
Choice of Covering
Concrete tiles, clay tiles and natural slate differ in cost and in the time they take to lay.
Condition of the Timbers
If stripping reveals rot or damage in rafters or sarking, that timber needs replacing before the new covering goes on.
Access & Scaffolding
Height, ground conditions and how close neighbouring buildings are all affect the scaffold your roof needs.

How a New Roof Is Fitted
- Step 1
Survey & Quote
We look at the roof, its pitch and the condition of the existing covering, then explain what a replacement involves and give you a FREE quote.
- Step 2
Stripping the Roof
The old tiles or slates, battens and underlay come off, exposing the timbers so any weak or rotten sections can be put right.
- Step 3
Building the New Roof
New underlay and battens go on, then the tiles or slates are laid in courses from the eaves up, with lead dressed into the valleys.
- Step 4
Finishing & Handover
Ridges, hips and verges are finished off. We then go over the new roof with you and confirm everything has been done as agreed.
